👋 Hi!
My name is Juan Manuel and I'm a GUI designer and photographer, based in Quito, Ecuador.


On design.

I’ve been designing GUIs for the web and native applications for almost two decades, from simple websites to audio VSTs, from flash animations to real-time industrial software.

Across the years I’ve helped design and develop projects in multiple industries: marketing, sound recording, massive retail corporations, banking, logistics, mass media, and many others.

I can't tell that every project I’ve worked on has been successful but I can tell that I’ve always given the best. And it’s been a long time since I learnt that mistakes and failures are the greatest teachers.


On photography.

Photography is something special for me, and very much like a weird sentiment or sensation, it's still very hard to explain why.

While still just a hobby, even if I've sold some work and had some contracts, photography is the medium that makes me feel that "creative flow", in its purest form.

And there's just something magical about the ability to frame and freeze a piece of time.

On writing.

I’m just starting. That’s it.

I just want to put out the ideas and stories I have in my head, maybe some experiences here and there, externalize them, freeze them in time.
